Job description
Willamette Lutheran Retirement Community is a Non-Profit Independent retirement community that is currently looking for a new Wellness Director for our Wellness Center. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse looking to do something new and exciting that is different from the average positions in the geriatric field. There is lots of room for independence and creativity, the ideal candidate is someone who enjoys resident interaction and has a strong sense of problem solving with good judgement skills.
Overview
The primary purpose of the position is to provide leadership and direction in planning, directing, and coordinating the Wellness Center. The Wellness Nurse/Director is expected to exercise ethical and sound judgement and decision-making and exemplify an administrative philosophy in congruence with the mission and goals of the Willamette Lutheran Retirement Community, to serve our independent residents. To maintain wellness and safety.
Responsibilities

  • Ensure resident safety and health by maintaining programs that assist in independence for resident care.
  • Work closely alongside the Executive Director to develop independent living wellness services
  • Delegate responsibility and authority to the appropriate employees in order to carry out the work of wellness services programs.
  • Evaluates, or assists in evaluating, the quality and the efficiency of services in the Wellness Center.
  • Assist in evaluating residents ability to maintain Independent living standards according to move in agreement, as well as assist in evaluating new move ins ability to maintain independent living safely.
  • Responsible for infection control, facility COVID procedures (for both residents and staff)
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining programs that enhance relationships among residents, their families, and the community.
  • Educate the residents and staff with monthly topics, events, services, training, and one on one assistance.
  • Host events for residents that are educational or boost wellness within the community.
  • Provide assistance to sign-up for Cherri Lift, a new doctor, mover, storage, w/c’s, walkers, canes, O2, home health, hospice, etc.
  • Assist in developing and implementing the wellness center budget.
  • stocking OTC pharmacy, wellness store, and other items in the Wellness Department
  • Build relationships with residents and staff within the building to better aid in care goals and safety overall
  • Manage wellness concierge staff schedules, hiring and education, firing, position goals and team building.
Experience
1. A degree in nursing from an accredited college or university. An advanced degree is preferable. A current unencumbered Registered Nurse License or Licensed Practical Nurse.
2. Must have at least 5 years of progressive Health Care Management experience and program development.
3. Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
4. Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the facility.
5. Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into the existing practices.
6. Must be able to develop, read, and interpret cost reports, financial data, etc.
7. Must be able to function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
8. Must be able to communicate with all other facility personnel and customers.
9. Must be able and willing to follow all facility policies and procedures.
10. Must be able to work as an effective and productive team member.
11. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
12. Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary.
13. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
14. Must be able to meet the attendance expectations (be at work on time and as scheduled).
