Paradise of Samoa Luau
Our 6th Annual Luau comes with some really special surprises this year. As has always been our custom, no participant will ever be asked to pay money to be part of Paradise of Samoa and to dance. We ask that the dancers learn traditional dance from the Pacific and teach others about Polynesian dance, art, and culture. Tasi asks that they participate as much as they can over the Summer. At the end of our season on Labor Day Weeken Saturday each year, after expenses for luau food and transportation, we divide up any receipts and give it back to the dancers according to their participation for their back to school expenses. This also teaches that one can actually be paid for art !!!! It is unfortunate that our schools are struggling to maintain any form or art or music available to kids; this is compounded by very few grants available in the community for dance or music.....in spite of this, Paradise of Samoa is strong and available ! We ask that you come and celebrate with us on Saturday, August 31, 2013, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in a beautiful garden location just suited for a tropical luau...at The Keizer Rapids Amphitheatre at the end of Chemawa Road in Keizer (West from Safeway in Keizer). The Coconut Wireless is calling it "the best Summer Luau in the Northwest". The food is fabulous and abundant; featuring Lome's Polynesian BBQ Chicken, Auntie Iva's famous Samoan Chop Suey, Asian Stir fry veggies, Auntie Toni's Sesame Asian Salad, Craig's Kalua Pork, and many other treats, including great cookies and deserts prepared with love. Live music will include The Rhythm Fanatics featuring Bobo on keys, Tiana, Jamila, Quini, and Pepe, and yes....Tasi will take the stage with her ukulele ! A full set of Polynesian Dance from Paradise of Samoa will complete the luau. Seniors get a special discount and place at our table ! We have raffles and prices, and have many great baskets of goodies, including an assortment of prizes for silent auction from local businesses who are supporting the troupe. Kids under 10 are free, and there are fun games to keep them occupied. Come with your camera and Aloha spirit
