Keizer Heritage Museum Lego Exhibit
Lego bricks are one of the world's top selling toys. Their production as we know it now dates back to 1958, and these creative building toys have been named "Toy of the Century" twice. Part of their appeal is in their versatility. Children and adults alike can build almost anything with a set of Lego bricks, from cars, to houses, to spaceships and beyond. The display at the Keizer Heritage Museum showcases a Lego set donated by a local Keizer couple. Both Mr. and Mrs. Summers played with Legos in their childhoods, eventually got ?too old? to build with the popular blocks, and put their toys away. Unlike many of their peers, they kept their Legos instead of donating them. When their children became old enough, they brought the blocks out again and rediscovered an old passion for Lego. Come to the Keizer Heritage Museum from now through the end of June to see these vintage sets displayed with interesting history on the pieces. The display showcases original creations by the collectors, contemporary takes on the old Lego themes, and, in the Library, a Lego Robotics display and awards from the Summers' participation in Oregon Robotics Tournament Outreach Program's First Lego League. The Keizer Heritage Museum is located at 980 Chemawa Rd. NE in Keizer and hours are Tuesday and Thursday 2-4 pm and Saturday 10 am-4 pm. Admission is free.
