Habitat for Humanity Family Fun Run
Mid-Willamette Valley runners, walkers and families are invited to a 5K event at Minto-Brown Park on River Road South at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 3, to kick off the 2010 Habitat for Humanity Women Build. This is an opportunity for everyone to get out, enjoy spring conditions and help raise funds and awareness for Habitat's Women Build, said Family Fun Run volunteer coordinator Becky O'Brien.
Online registrations for the event are now being taken at www.salemhabitat.org. Jog strollers are welcome, but pets will not be allowed on the course. The top three finishers in men's and women's divisions will receive awards. Prize drawings are planned. A free Kids Race for children up to 8 years old also will take place following the main event. All children will receive participation recognition.
From March through November, Habitat for Humanity Mid-Willamette Valley will be constructing a home on Samaritan Lane in South Salem which will be occupied by single mother Tammy Thomas and her two daughters. Build organizers are hoping to see women come out in force to work on the project.
Fun Run sponsors include Cherry City Interiors & Design, Run Wild Adventures, Gallagher Fitness Resources, Willamette Valley Roadrunners and Shaw Industries Inc.
