April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Local businesses or organizations can show support for children just by encouraging staff to wear their favorite jeans every Friday in April.
With a $5.00 weekly donation to Liberty House (LH), Marion-Polk County’s child abuse assessment center, participants can wear jeans and a Liberty House Jeans Day Sticker that tells clients and colleagues they believe in LH’s work. Participating organizations can also set up informational displays at their workplace.
For 15 years, LH has served children who may have suffered abuse. They provide medical exams, forensic interviews, family support, and have established partnerships with law enforcement and the Department of Human Services, LH also works in the community to educate the public about child abuse and ways to prevent it. Since its founding, Liberty House has provided services to more than 4,350 children.
