Summer, warm weather and the boating season are fast-approaching ... Marion County residents can look forward to enjoying time on the water with family and friends. The Marion County Sheriff's Office wants to make sure that you have a safe and fun boating season.
This year, we will again join the Oregon Marine Board to provide free boat safety inspections.
To take advantage of this opportunity, you are invited to bring your boat to Keizer Station, in front of the Round Table Pizza Parlor on Saturday, April 20th, 2013 between 10:00am and 1:00pm. Sheriff's Office personnnel and volunteers will be there to greet you. No appointment is necessary.
To expedite the process take a few minutes to pre-inspect your boat to make sure it'll meet the standard for passing the inspection.
Be sure that you have the following:
Oregon Boater Education Card - if operating a motor boat over 10HP Personal Flotation Devices
Ore Type IV - Throw able PFD
Navigation Lights for nighttime boating
Sound Producing Device or Air canister
Fire Extinguisher(s)
Flame Arrestor (Backfire)
Clean air ventilation vents
Certificate of number or rental agreement
Identifying numbers reflecting current registration
Hull identification number displayed on boat
Once your boat has passed inspection, you'll be issued an inspection sticker valid for 2013. There will be no citations issued for boats failing the inspection.
