Dallas Adopt A Family project is in full swing. This longstanding community project provides food and children’s gifts to Dallas families in need of Christmas assistance. Businesses, churches, individuals and other organizations adopt one or more families and provide food and/or grocery gift cards for the family and Christmas presents for children in the household. To date, 91 families have been adopted and project organizers project about 110 more families will need adopting. Last year the event served 183 families, a total of over 1,000 individuals including 500 children. This year the campaign expects to serve about 200 families. In addition, they are serving Oregon Youth Authority kids with gifts, about 20 teenagers.
The Dallas Adopt A Family Committee has partnered with Evangelical Bible Church, Fowler Affiliates, Polk County Service Integration and The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center on this year’s Adopt A Family campaign.
Dallas area families may apply for assistance through The Salvation Army who is accepting applications November 19-21 from 4-6 pm and November 22 from 10am to 1pm at the Academy gym located at 182 SW Academy Street Dallas, OR 97338.
